While journaling, I had a revelation. I discovered what I am truly good at, and most importantly, I discovered how to recognize the signals from the body and mind that tell you “this is it.” We do many different things throughout the year, but only a few genuinely move us inside. When you do the things you love without knowing “this is it” three things happen: You instinctively know how to do them without anyone teaching you, You do them better than anyone else, You wish you could live your life doing only that—and get paid for it. Many of you may already be thinking that what you love does not make money for the family, so you had to compromise and choose what pays the bills, guarantees stability, and eventually pays for the kids’ schools. I am not talking about “things.” I am talking about actions, movements, tasks—those moments within your job and daily life that light something inside of you.

Your job may be perfectly fine, but if it does not unleash your true potential, you are wasting your greatness. I am not saying to quit your job because you think you know what you like. It doesn’t work that way. You must first recognize what triggers those chemical reactions in your body—the ones that unleash your personality and allow you to achieve your potential and express your unique skills.

Let’s start by recognizing the signals. Then, let’s chase those signals to understand what triggered them. If you think it’s easy, then I think you already are who you want to be. There is something in each of us that is special and unique—something we are born with. Life, expectations, and a rigid system force society to follow certain rules and aspirations. However, your true self is still there, hidden beneath your skin. Like a shark rising out of the water, your true self occasionally emerges in all its beauty.
